Land reform was a principal concern of the North and South Vietnamese regimes during the First and Second Indochina Wars. Land reform in North Vietnam in the mid-1950s led to tens of thousands of executions and wide disaffection with the regime. Land reform policies in South Vietnam, far less comprehensive, ultimately did little to reduce the difficulties experienced by large parts of the rural South Vietnamese population.237 Records
